Telling The Future Through A Portal is both the performance and the resulting video. The Portal Drawings are indices of one of the iterations of the performance. The two collage prints appropriate photos of natural disasters, genocide, and human impacts on the earth. I look to connect pervert as political identity, distance and control in relationships, and the self as a history of impacts. What does futurity, especially queer futurity, look like or mean in these climates (in both a literal, warming sense and an increasingly fascistic, political one)? How does the past look like the present? Where will the present lead?

Deleuze and Guattari contrast the rhizome to a tree, which is hierarchical, has a root, an origin. I find it increasingly impossible to see any given facet of my research in isolation, to see any of my work as hierarchical. There may be modes I feel I speak best to and in, but everything touches.
